Magazine editor talks about Maru's reaction when the earthquake struck

Translation:
From the Editor
March 11th, at “that moment,” I was in the middle of an interview with Kanjani8’s Maruyama Ryuhei-kun. Even as it began to shake, Maruyama-kun, the seasoned and experienced idol that he is, carried on with his talking, not showing any signs of alarm. However, after seeing the shaking cause the heavy, iron studio sliding door to slide in an unbelievable manner, he guided the writer and I and said, “Let’s get under the table for a second.” He called out to a studio staff member desperately holding the sliding door open in attempt to secure an exit, “Don’t worry about that. (Come) Over here!”

At the risk of being misunderstood, I would like to say that his actions spoke louder than any words imaginable, and it was at that moment I was able to see his complete inner workings. Looking back on it now, as a person from Kansai, he had experienced the Great Hanshin Earthquake. Perhaps behind his ability to stay calm lay memories from that time. As a panic-struck, useless editor, I would like to use this opportunity to express my gratitude, and to wish peace to all the victims. (Kimura Naoe)
