Feb 25 Live in Osaka DOME

The people in the fan club knew from a while ago, but an official announcement was finally made, so I'll translate one of the articles regarding this happy news :-)

KANJANI8: "A New Step" at Kyocera (previously known as Osaka) Dome!

It's been two and a half years since their debut in August of 2004. Kanjani8, a group that has broken numerous Enka-division records, has risen all the way up to being able to hold a concert in a Dome.

The sub-title for this concert is, "What! Really!? What a surprise!!" It was a big New Year's surprise for the seven members as well. Yasuda Shota (22) says, "I still think, 'Wow, this is unreal!' I'm thrilled for us to be able to be the main group performing at the dome instead of dancing behind our senpais." Murakami Shingo (24) agreed, saying, "It still hasn't sunk in yet. However, we would like to enjoy every moment of this opportunity."

The dome should fit around 40,000 people. However, this number does not scare the seven members anymore. Last year, they went on their first ever national tour starting in September to 11 cities. In December, they had a successful arena-tour going around six cities. They have gathered 620,000 people in the two tours combined.

In addition, their fifth single "Kan Fuu Fighting," released last December, became a #1 hit. The 450,000 copies prepared in the first week was a new record in the Enka division. Yokoyama Yu (25) says, "It has been my dream (to perform in the Dome). I want to make it successful." Ohkura Tadayoshi (21) says, "We will let our feelings be heard in the dome. We'll enjoy it," sounding very confident for their first big stage.

On the other hand, they have officially announced last December that Uchi Hiroki would be leaving the group (*see below). It will be a new start for this group, but Maruyama Ryuhei (23) says, "It's a challenge for us." Nishikido Ryo (22) says, "We'll work hard so that we will be able to have concerts in domes regularly."

On other articles, Subaru's quotes were used too: "We have to feel proud of where we're from (Osaka)."

ALSO, in one of the articles, there was mention of a new album coming out sometime in the spring. That's not official news yet but I'm not at all surprised... they have more than enough songs to make an album!!

*<<About Uchi's part>> I just directly translated what this article said. Technically, I guess Uchi is out of the group for now. Most newspapers just say he "officially left the group," because technically, he's not in it now. However, he's a "trainee" now so all we can do now is to hope for the best and pray that one day, the well-trained Uchi will come back to his group(s) :-)
